VINTAGE SAN JOSE POLICE

IVAN COMELLI, ADMIN

So, I was sitting back this morning, July 4, 2019, having my coffee and thinking about what I was doing on previous 4th of Julys. (You do that when you are as Vintage as me). It struck me that 60 years ago this week, I was appointed to the San Jose PD. (Now that's Vintage). I don't remember if we had the 4th of July off, but I was going through the Police Academy that week with my fellow appointees. The Police Academy back then was then know as Police Orientation Week and as the name implied it lasted a whole week.

HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY EVERYONE.

  • Ivano Franco Comellihttps://static.xx.fbcdn.net/rsrc.php/v3/yi/r/oJUaDQAiBQe.png IF MY VINTAGE MEMORY serves me correctly, I was assigned to B-9, the area covering the far north eastside (Penitencia Creek Area) of San Jose. I started to respond to the site of the blast, but was told to stay 9-09 (remain in service) for lack of Beat Cars (most were at the scene already) to answer other emergency calls). Never did get there until it pretty much was all over.

  • Owen Purser I was working motors that day in the downtown area so got assigned to help with traffic control. What a mess!
    • Ivano Franco Comellihttps://static.xx.fbcdn.net/rsrc.php/v3/yi/r/oJUaDQAiBQe.png Hi Owen. Need you to dig into those shoeboxes of Vintage San Jose Police photos, I know you have, and share them with us.

  • Tim Bob ThunderHorse On that very afternoon came home (fifth grader at Happy Valley Elementary School) and heard the blast as it echoed within the canyon of “Valle de Sol” off Vine Hill Road in Santa Cruz County....it was loud and distinct and scared the horses at our little ranch in the mountains near Scott’s Valley. Realized it was the same blast when we tuned in the “local” one tv channel 11 that was reporting
  •
  • Patricia Campbell Alvarez I was 10 years old when that happened. Grew up in E San Jose. It was some time near Easter and there was a photo of a large Easter Bunny spattered with what looked like blood and debris on the front page of the Merc. I will never forget that.

WARNING: PUN AHEAD

DON'T SMOKE WHEN PUMPING GAS!!
A close up of a sign

OK. Taking a break from jokes. I am going to share what happened right in front of my eyes night before last when I was coming home from our town's Fourth of July fireworks celebration.

I pulled into a gas station and had just finished filling my car up with gasoline, when I noticed a policeman eyeing a woman who was smoking while pumping her gas.

Not only was she risking serious danger by smoking while pumping her gas, she was doing it right in front of a police officer.

Less than a minute later, I heard screaming. I looked up and the woman's arm was on fire. She was swinging her arm and running around like crazy.

The policeman ran to her, threw her to the ground, covered her body with his own, then doused her arm with a bottle of water he had been drinking.

He then handcuffed her and threw her in the back seat of his patrol car.

I had an idea that she probably would be charged with violation of whatever law forbids smoking around a gas pump.

But, my curiosity got the best of me.

"What are you going to charge her with?" I asked,

"She was waving a firearm," he said.

A man pretending to be a police officer was arrested
after he pulled over a deputy, authorities said

On July 7, 2016, five Dallas Police Department and Dallas Area Rapid Transit officers were murdered and nine were injured in ambush by a gunman who targeted them because of the badge they wore, and while they protected a group of people protesting police shootings.  Sgt. Michael Smith, Senior Corporal Lorne Arens, and Officers Michael Krohl and Patrick Zamarripa of the Dallas Police Department and Officer Brent Thompson of the Dallas Area Rapid Transit Police Department were killed as they attempted to protect citizens from a hail of bullets and track down the gunman.  We will never forget them, or any of those affected by this terrible day, and continue to pray and admonish our brothers and sisters to stay vigilant and safe as they put on their uniforms and gear and pin on their badges each day.

Life is not a fairy tale. If you lose your shoe at midnight, you’re drunk.

If women are upset at Trump’s naughty words, who in the hell bought 80 million copies of 50 Shades of Gray?

Jim Comey answered, “I don’t know,” “I don’t recall,” and “I don’t remember” 236 times while under oath. But he remembered enough to write a book.

President Trump should nominate Hillary Clinton for the next opening on the supreme court. Then he can finally get her investigated.

Not one feminist has defended Sarah Sanders. It seems women’s rights only matter if those women are liberal.

No Border Walls. No voter ID laws. You figured it out yet?

Chelsea Clinton got out of college and got a job at NBC that paid $900,000 per year. Her mom flies around the country speaking out about white privilege.

SOCIALISM: An idea that is so good that it has to be mandatory. Bernie Sanders walks into a bar and yells... “Free drinks for everyone!” looks around and says “Who’s buying?”

What is the difference between an Illegal immigrant and E.T.? E.T. learned to speak English and went home.

And just like that they went from being against foreign interference in our elections to allowing non-citizens to vote in our elections.

Watching the left come up with schemes to “catch Trump” is like watching Wile E. Coyote trying to catch Road Runner.

President Trump’s wall cost less than the Obamacare website alone. Let that sink in, America.

We are one election away from open borders, socialism, gun confiscation, and full term abortion nationally. We are fighting evil.

They sent more troops and armament to arrest Roger Stone than they sent to defend Benghazi.

60 years ago, Venezuela was 4th on the world economic freedom index. Today, they are 179th and their citizens are dying of starvation. In only 10 years, Venezuela was destroyed by democratic socialism.

Russia donated $0.00 to the Trump campaign. Russia donated $145,600,000 to the Clinton Foundation. But Trump was the one investigated!

Nancy Pelosi invited illegal aliens to the State of the Union. President Trump Invited victims of illegal aliens to the State of the Union. Let that sink in.

A socialist is basically a communist who doesn’t have the power to take everything from their citizens at gunpoint ... Yet!

How do you walk 3,000 miles across Mexico without food or support and show up at our border 100 pounds overweight and with a cellphone?

Alexandria Ocasio Cortez wants to ban cars, ban planes, give out universal income and thinks socialism works. She calls Donald Trump crazy.

Bill Clinton paid $850,000 to Paula Jones To get her to go away. I don’t remember the FBI raiding his lawyer’s office.

I wake up every day and I am grateful that Hillary Clinton is not the President of the United States of America.

The same media that told me Hillary Clinton had a 95% chance of winning now tells me Trump’s approval ratings are low.
